Stanley S. Sprowls, 73, of Waynesburg, R. D. 1, died at 6:45 a. m. Thursday, May 19, 1966, in his home. He had not been in the best of health for sometime.
Mr. Sprowls was born Nov. 23, 1892, in West Finley Township, Washington County, a son of Henry and Anna Mary Wallace Sprowls.
He had resided at Brownsville for 40 years prior to moving to Waynesburg in 1949. An insurance agent, he had served as steward at both the Brownsville and Waynesburg BPOE lodges. He retired Jan. 1, 1964, from his post at Waynesburg. He attended Chalfant Business College at Brownsville.
Mr. Sprowls was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of Brownsville and BPOE Lodge 757, Waynesburg. He was a past exhalted ruler of BPOE Lodge 1344, Brownsville.
His first wife Myrtle Springer Sprowls died in 1941.
Surviving are: his second wife, Dorthea Laubg (sic) Sprowls, whom he married Aug. 11, 1948; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Moore, of Rochester, N. Y., and Mrs. Mary Ellen Metcalf, of West Caldwell, N. J.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Della Bacon, of Sarasota, Fla., and Mrs. Opal Glace, of Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Okal, of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters and six brothers; are deceased.
SPROWLS - Friends of Stanley S. Sprowls, of Waynesburg, R. D. 1, who died Thursday, May 19, 1966, will be received after 7 p. m. Friday in the Mariner and Milliken Funeral Home, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Sunday in charge of Rev. S. M. McConnell. Burial in Redstone Cemetery, Brownsville.
