John C. Sprowls obituary, The Daily Independent, Monessen (Westmoreland County), Pennsylvania, 8 April, 1960

John C. Sprowls, a former Donora resident, died this morning at 1:20 o'clock in Wilmington, Del., after a lingering illness. He was 72-years-old.

Born in East Finley Twp. (sic) he later moved to Donora. He left Donora for Youngstown, Ohio where he worked as melder foreman in the Youngstown Sheet and Steel Corp.

He also worked as a melder (sic) foreman in the Worth Steel Corp. at Claymont, Del., prior to his retirement.

The deceased was a member of Donora Blue Lodge F & AM 626 and other Masonic bodies.

He is a brother of the late J. Add Sprowls, of Donora.

Survivors include: four brothers, Forrest of Erie, Frank of Gary, Ind., Staney of Brownsville and Okal of Claysville; two sisters, Mrs. Della Bacon of Greenville, Pa. and Mrs. Irvin Glace of Youngstown, Ohio.

Friends will be received at the Lawson Funeral Home, Donora, after 2 p.m. on Sunday. Services will be held there at 1 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Monongahela Memorial Cemetery.
