Preston Allen Crampton, age 94, formerly of Loyalton and South Pointe in Hagerstown, and a long-time resident of Boonsboro, died at Reeder's Memorial Home on Tuesday, June, 26, 2007.

Born April 28, 1913 in Sharpsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Helen Hines Brashears.

His beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Amelia Coffman Crampton, died December 31, 2005.

He retired from the Maryland Correctional Institution, Hagerstown MD in 1974 after 22 years of service.

He was a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men.

He was a member of the Maryland Classified Association, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378, Boonsboro Senior Citizens, Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, South County Democratic Club, and he was a charter member of the former Boonsboro Optimists Club. He volunteered many years with the Boonsboro Ambulance and Rescue Company as well as the Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Company. He was most proud of the fact that for 32 years and 4 months he volunteered every Saturday in the Emergency Room of the Washington County Hospital.

He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Linthicum of Frederick, MD, Linda Jessee and husband, Steven of Big Pool, MD, Donna Churchey and husband, David of Littleton, CO; one granddaughter, Susan Linthicum Furmage and husband, Gary of Chester, England; one great-granddaughter, Kiri Aurelia Furmage of Chester England; and one niece, Kara Brashears Cline and husband, Michael of Hagerstown MD.

He was preceded in death by four half-brothers, James Brashears, Roger Brashears, Donald Brashears and Marvin Brashears.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 2 at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro, MD. The Rev. Robert G. Brennan, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m., which will open after noon for the convenience of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boonsboro Ambulance and Rescue Co., P.O. Box 7, Boonsboro, MD 21713 or to Hospice of Washington County, Inc., 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
