Robert Morton Wright, 83, retired Pittsburgh mail carrier, died today at 2 a.m. in the Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh following a short illness.

Mr. Wright, who retired 18 years ago, had been making his home with a daughter, Mrs. Clifford Lyons, about one and one-half miles west of Hookstown. He was a member of the Emory Methodist Church of Pittsburgh where he lived while working for the post office department.

He leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Ford Reed of Hookstown, and Mrs. Edmund McCauley of Pittsburgh; four sons, Morton Wright of Georgetown, Sgt. Charles G. Wright in Hawaii, and William Wright and John Wright of Chester; two sisters, Mrs. Birdie Campbell of Chester, and Mrs. Lucy Doughty of East Liverpool, and 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Stewart funeral home in Hookstown and will be removed to the Lyons home Friday, where friends may call. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
