John Clinton Wilson was the son of John C. Wilson and Mary J. Bates. His father moved the family to Colorado in the early 1860's. John was born at a ranch at the head of Coal Creek west of Arvada while his father engaged in mining and ranching. They returned to MO for some years before moving back to Colorado in 1874, settling in the Florissant area.
John married Emma Alberta Robbins in 1890 in Summit County, Colorado. Their cattle ranch was located in the West Four Mile area below Wright's Dam, south of Florissant along the road to Cripple Creek.
John and Emma had 6 children. When they retired from ranching, they moved to 850 E. Grandview in Arvada, Colorado.
