George W. Wilson was born in Missouri in 1874 to John C. Wilson and Mary Jane Bates. A little later that same year, the family moved to Florissant, Colorado. George took over his father's ranch near Florissant, where their 3 children were born: Dorothy, Virginia and Rolland.

Eventually the family moved to Colorado Springs where George worked as a teamster. They moved to Hygiene, Colorado, where George worked as a farm manager. They moved back to Colorado Springs, where George died in 1940.
