Married to David Augustus Brown; six children: Emily Hannah, Emily Demaris, Lenora Alice, Georgia Ann, William Means, and Stella Amanda.

Obituary:

Died, at the home of her son-in-law, Charles Reed near Mason, Illinois, Hannah A. Brown, in the 59th year of her age. She was born near Greencastle, Indiana, where the family continued to reside until she reached her womanhood, when they came to Effingham County, where in 1855 she was married to D. A. Brown. She was the mother of seven children, four of whom survive her, viz: Mrs. Laura Reed, Mrs. Georgia Ginn, William and Stella A. Brown. Mrs. Brown was converted early in life, joining the Missionary Baptist church at the age of 16 years, living in the exercise of the most noble and unselfish principles and dying in the faith of the gospel and hope of eternal life. Her opportunities for active church and benevolent work were much proscribed by long years of suffering from that dread disease, consumption, yet in the circle in which she lived and moved, she was ever an inspiration on account of her loving, sympathetic nature. In her family and families of her children her gentle words of wisdom came as a benediction in time of trouble and sorrow. During the last few months of her illness, although able most of the time to be up and in some way ever making herself helpful, she realized that her earthly career was fast drawing to a close. In all of her affliction to the very last she manifested the most remarkable cheerfulness and resignation, often epressing herself as only waiting at the river ‘til the Lord should send to maker her over. Farewell faithful wife, loving mother, constant friend and trusting disciple of the Master. Those who knew thee best on earth are assured that though art today reaping the reward of a true child of God.
