Myrtis Lorene Mangrum was born on November 3, 1919 to William Earley and Nevada "Vadie" Davis Mangrum. She married Geneis Conly Edwards, in the park across from the Durant train depot on May 2, 1936. They had two children, James Conley and Betty Ann. They divorced, and Myrtis remarried three times. Her second marriage was to Enoch Whiddon, marrying in Carson City, Nevada on July 27, 1969, and the marriage ended in divorce on February 1, 1977, in Clewiston, Florida. Her third husband was Thaddeus Burchfield, but the marriage ended in divorce. Her fourth and final husband was Wash Taylor "W.T." Harmon, who she was married to until his death. She died of brain cancer on January 12, 1993 at the Durant Hospital in Durant, Mississippi. She was a loving mother and Grandma.
