Obituary Archibald M. Mounts
Archibald M. Mounts, son of James and Elizabeth (Mullan) Mounts, was born November 29, 1865 at New Philadelphia.
He departed this life December 20, 1936, age 71 years and 21 days.
He was the youngest of 12 children, five sisters and three brothers having preceded him in death, namely, James, Henry and Francis, Mrs. Martha Parker, Mrs. Mary Robison, Mrs. Elizabeth McCollum, Mrs. Ellen Jenkins and Mrs. Margaret Baker.
He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Elizabeth Lyles March 21, 1909. To this union two children were born, a son, Francis Eugene, dying in infancy. Later a daughter Verle Audrey, came to bless this home and at the present time is a student at Indiana University, having came home Friday evening to spend her holidays, little thinking she was coming to the bedside of her dying father, whose sickness was only of four days duration.
He grew to manhood in the community of New Philadelphia.
He was a nurse of the men's ward at Cleveland, Ohio, Cherokee, Iowa, and Evansville for a number of years. He was an officer at the Indiana reformatory at Jeffersonville for three years and later for five and one-half years at Pendleton. He also served as postmaster at New Philadelphia for 14 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and daughter, Verle Audrey; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Ballard of Salem, Oregon; two brothers Thomas and Richard Mounts of New Philadelphia, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday, December 20, by the Rev. Noble C. Trueblood.
