LOOGOOTEE – Harry J. Bowling, 102, died at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Martin County Health Care and Rehab Center, Loogootee.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the Titzer Funeral Home, Loogootee. A rosary service followed by a Knights of Columbus Memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1898, in Montgomery, to John W. and Cordelia (Patterson) Bowling. He married Bridget Mattingly on Dec. 2, 1919 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 1970.

Bowling retired in 1963 as manager of Public Service Indiana Loogootee office. He was a St. John Catholic Church member, as well as a Third Degree and Honorary Life-Member of the K of C.

Surviving are: three sons, Bill, James and Don, all of Loogootee; two daughters, Margie Sherfick, Loogootee and Dorothy Hortie, Salisbury, Maryland; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jack and Lester Bowling; three grandchildren; five brothers and four sisters.

Harry J. Bowling, 102, Loogootee, died at 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at the Martin County Health Care and Rehab Center in Loogootee. He was born November 20, 1898 in Montgomery, Indiana to John W. Bowling and Margaret Cordelia (Patterson) Bowling. He was married on December 2, 1919 to Bridget Nancy(Mattingly) Bowling and she preceded him in death on December 4, 1970.

He retired in 1963 as manager of Public Service Indiana, Loogootee office. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and a 3rd Degree and Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by three sons Bill (John William), Jim (James Harry), and Don (Donald Francis) Bowling, all of Loogootee; two daughters, Margie (Mary Margaret) Sherfick of Loogootee, and Dorothy Agnes Hortie of Salisbury, Maryland; along with 25 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Lester and Raymond Louis Bowling, 1 grandson and 2 great-grandchildren, and 11 brothers and sisters.
