George Bowling, 83, 2824 Mars Hill Avenue, Indianapolis, a former Daviess County resident, died at the Veterans Rest Home in Indianapolis late Monday night.
A veteran of World War I, Mr. Bowling was born in Daviess County October 28, 1885, a son of John W. and Cordelia (Patterson) Bowling. His first marriage was to Ora McAtee, who preceded him in death. He then married Helen Burton (Grimes), who is also deceased.
Mr. Bowling was employed as an automobile factory worker in Indianapolis and was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church of that city. He moved from Daviess County about 50 years ago.
Survivors include two sons, Robert and Lawrence Bowling and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Wirey, all of Indianapolis; one sister, Mrs. Tressa Prodzinski, California; one brother, Harry Bowling, Loogootee, and several nieces and nephews in the Washington area.
Funeral services will be at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Indianapolis at 9 a.m. Friday. Friends may call at the Farley Funeral Home, West Morris Street, Indianapolis.

He died Monday in the West 10th Street Veteran's Administration Hospital. He was a native of Daviess County and lived in Indianapolis 40 years.
He was a member of Wayne Post 64 of the American Legion, the church and Holy Name Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Merle Wirey; two sons, George R. and Lawrence W. Bowling, all of Indianapolis; a brother, Harry Bowling of Loogootee, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
