W.E. BACKSTROM
William E. Backstrom, 72, of 511 Rostraver Drive, Collinburg, West Newton, R.D., died Monday afternoon in the Westmoreland Hospital.
He was born Feb. 5, 1896, in Collinsburg, a son of the late August and Johanna Bergren Backstrom. He was a retired engineer for the P & LE Railroad, a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in West Newton, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Betty Bryner Backstrom, and the following children. Robert B. of Erie, Russell and William Jr., both of Collinsburg, Mrs. Olga Dennick of Waltz Mills, Mrs. Viola Dubinsakk(SIC) of Sutersville, and Mrs. Joanne Pierce of Pricedale. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs Jennie Perkins and Olga Backstrom, both of Collinsburg, and Mrs. Ellen Blumling of McKees Rocks, a brother Harry of Pittsburgh, and six grandchildren.
