Ruth was born August 18, 1926 in Park City, the daughter of Alma H. and Jennie Wheeler Pedersen. Ruth grew up and attended school in Park City. She Married Ted Staker November 16, 1946, in Park City, Utah.
Mother was a wonderful person who loved people and they loved her. She was witty, smart, and her personality drew people to her. During the war she worked for the railroad in Ogden. Over the next 30 years she enjoyed working as a waitress in Park City. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crocheting and puzzles. Ruth was an honest and unique person and a true friend. She expected no less from others.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Larsen; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and four sisters, Norma Cowin, Donna Alvey, Carol (Ken) Colovich, and Ethel (Tom) Dudley. She is preceded in death by her husband Ted, son, Larry Staker; five brothers and three sisters.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all of Ruth's friends who have helped her through these tender times. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009, 11:00 AM at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services in the Heber City Cemetery.
