Joan was the daughter of Herman and Ethel George.

Tho she was 21 years older than I, I have very fond memories of her. She was a sweet and loving person.

Joan George, 68, Holton, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at a Holton hospital.

She was born March 12, 1932, in Olsburg, the daughter of Herman and Laura Ethel Whittle George. She lived most of her life in the Wetmore area before moving to Holton in 1985.

Miss George was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 282 in Wetmore.

Survivors include six sisters, Madene Fernkopf and Hazel Porter, both of Holton, Marjorie McDaniel, Centralia, Jean Hallin, Spokane, Wash., Ludema Scott, Harrodsburg, Kent., and Lucile Kirk, Sabetha; and a brother, Dwane George, Sabetha.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton. Burial will be in Wetmore Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 282, Wetmore, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, 66436.
