The ninth of eleven children born to Colonel Daniel and Margaret (Hughes) Kennedy of TN, Mary married John Ewing McClure on 21 Nov 1811 in Greene Co TN. They had eleven children, seven sons, two daughters and two unnamed infants.

Having moved to Rhea Co TN, her husband sold the farm about 1835 and began a journey with his family to Missouri. A Cholera epidemic broke out near Lewisburg AR, brought on by contagious passengers traveling on the steamboat. There, Margaret's husband John died of the disease, aged 45 years.

With the help of her older sons, Margaret continued on to Missouri with her family. In 1854, she died at the home of her son John, near Washburn.

Margaret is my 4th Gr-Grand Aunt through her older brother John Kennedy (1775-1845).
