MRS. CASPER AMMAN, VICTIM OF CANCER TORMENTS, ETERNALLY RELIEVED.
At 6:15 o'clock, June 17, the slow tollings of the bells of Maple Grove's Catholic church announced in solemn echoes that Mrs. Casper Amman, venerable in age and high in sanctity, had passed to eternity. Miss Kunigunda Angst was born in Switzerland April 15, 1846, where she lived until 1872, when she was united in marriage to Mr. Casper Amman. The young couple at once emigrated to this country, and after living two years in Sandusky, Ohio, moved to Michigan and settled permanently in Maple Grove. Mr. Amman passed away nine years ago and since his death Mrs. Amman made her home with her daughters. June 20th her body was born to its final earthly home, having received the last solemn rites of the Catholic Church, in which she had ever been a devout member. Rev. Fr. Bosler, resident pastor and celebrant of the solemn requiem high mass, delivered the funeral sermon, in which he soundly emphasized the consolations and graces flowing profuse from that religion from which the deceased had drawn her mighty inspirations so uncomplainingly, yea, willingly, linger through her last seven months of awful suffering. Five surviving children accompanied her last remains, Mr. William Amman of Chesaning, Mrs. Frank Alberts, Mrs. Mathew Wrocklage, Mr. Joseph Amman and Mrs. Peter Gross, all of Maple Grove. A daughter died in infancy and a son, Casper Amman, passed before 1913. With her surviving children 12 grandchildren are left to mourn their loss.
