from the memoirs of Frank Dumm:

"JAMES WILSON was the youngest child in the Samuel W. and Mary J. Dumm family. He was born April 26, 1876, in the old homestead in North Buffalo Twp. around which so many pleasant memories are clustered. I was not yet 10 years old when he came. He was the baby and I was the oldest of the family. We never were pals as brothers should be. There was ten years between our ages, and that was enough to keep us apart during childhood. I regarded him as my "little brother", and perhaps tried to boss him more than I should. When we grew up, we went different ways. I was interested in school and getting an education. He perhaps would have been interested in education; but he got to working just before the Panic of 1893 struck the country. His job in a printing establishment in New Kensington could not be cast aside carelessly. He stayed there and learned the printing business, and in due time became foreman in the place where he worked at McKeesport. He was married to Mary Belle Stewart, March 27, 1901. They lived many years in East McKeesport, where they built their home."
---------------------
In 1880 he lived with his parents, brother, and four sisters in their house on the west side of Tapeworm Road that had been built on that part of Johnny Dumm's farm that his father had bought from his grandfather. Sam owned real property worth $1000 and personal property worth $400.

In 1900 he and his parents and four of his siblings lived in the house at 448 Fourth Avenue in Parnassus, PA--now part of New Kensington. Amanda was married and living in Marion, OH by then. They owned their home, with a mortgage. His father and sisters Eliza and Mary were school teachers, Frank was a seminary student, and he was a printer.

In 1910 he lived with his wife and their son Claude in a house on Chicora Street (probably 508) in East McKeesport, PA that they owned, with a mortgage. He was a printer at a newspaper.

In 1920 he and his wife and their three children lived in a house on Chicora Street (probably the same one) that they owned, with a mortgage. He was a printer at a newspaper and Claude was a pressman at a newspaper. They also had a lodger living with them, 44-year-old Margaret Michaels.

In 1930 he and his wife and their daughters lived in the house at 508 Chicora Street. They owned their home, which was valued at $10,000. He was the proprietor of a Job Printing Shop. They also had a boarder living with them, 22-year-old Nell Campbell, who was a public school teacher.
