From "The Minteers As I Have Known Them" by Josephine Minteer Dickinson (1961 limited-edition private printing of 200 copies), youngest and last surviving of William Minteer and Mary Nicholson's 85 grandchildren:

"Married John R. Frederick on June 6, 1900. As a young girl she endeared herself to our family by faithfully caring for our family plot in the cemetery at Slate Lick just as she cared for that of her own family. Following in the tradition of the family, after attending Slippery Rock College she taught school. When John died in 1923, they lived on the Frederick farm near Bethel Church and she carried on beautifully with the able help of her devoted children. After her husband's death, she had a Dumm-Minteer reunion on July 4, 1928. Cousin Margaret Minteer and my family attended and it was a delightful occasion. This was my last contact with many of these people. In later years, she went to California to be near her children."
-----------------------
In 1880 she lived with her parents, two brothers, and three sisters in their house on the west side of Tapeworm Road that had been built on that part of Johnny Dumm's farm that her father had bought from her grandfather. Sam owned real property worth $1000 and personal property worth $400.

In 1900 she and her parents and four of her siblings lived in the house at 448 Fourth Avenue in Parnassus, PA--now part of New Kensington. Amanda was married and living in Marion, OH by then. They owned their home, with a mortgage. She and her father and sister Eliza were school teachers, Frank was a seminary student, and her brother James a printer. (That census was recorded June 1; she and Walter married June 6 and she was also counted in the census with him June 12.)

In 1910 she and her husband and their six children lived on a farm in Lower Burrell Township that they owned, mortgage free. The census record shows it being on Markel Road.

In 1920 they all still lived on the farm, which the census record shows as being on Seventh Street Road.

In 1930 she and sons Walter, Alonzo, and Lewis still lived on the farm, and daughter Elizabeth Coulson lived next door.

In 1940 she was counted twice in the census--on the old home farm with her son William and his family (where she was shown as a lodger rather than his mother) and in El Monte, CA with her son Walter and his family.

In 1950 she lived on the old home farm with her son William, his wife, and their three children. William also worked as a mail carrier for the Post Office.
