Stella Alvira Barrick was the daughter of Hugh and Elizabeth M. (Dunn) Carmichael. She was born on a farm west of Arapaho, Custer County, OK. Her siblings were: Artie and his wife, Carrie Stewart, Earl and his wife, Madeline Frazier, Velma Ann (who preceded her in death in 1923) and Hugh and his wife, Grace Richardson.

She was married to James Floyd Barrick on Feb. 27, 1918 at Cordell, Washita County, OK. Three children: Opal E., Fern Stella and Roy James. Nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Stella and Floyd at one time owned a restaurant and at other times did wheat harvesting during the summer months.
