Edward Ervin "Bud" Rath of Blackwell died Friday evening, Oct. 17, 2003 at his home at the age of 86 years. There was a private service after cremation.
"Bud" was born Dec. 26, 1916 west of Braman to Ervin and Laura Rath. He was educated in Braman schools.
He served on the USS Idaho in the U.S. Navy during the World War II.
He married Helen Foster on Aug. 10, 1948 in Harrison, Arkansas. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Aug. 10th.
In 1961 they moved to California living there until moving to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. They moved back to Blackwell 2 1/2 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee, Carl, and Jack Rath, sisters Etta and Hattie Rath and a grandson Jesse Peterson.
Survivors include sons Lyle Rath of Dallas, Texas, Terry Goodale of Cathedral City, California, Charles Peterson of Blackwell, daughter Betty Rath of Blackwell, brother Cecil of Ponca City, sister Marge Ertman of Fullerton, California, 10 granchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
