FRED W. BROEKER DIES AT HOME NEAR MT. UNION
A Native of Germany, He Was Resident of Des Moines County For Fifty Years.

Mt. Union (IA), May 1. -- Fred W. Broeker died following a stroke of paralysis at his home near Mt. Union, Iowa, Monday evening, April 30. H was born in Germany in 1848.
Deceased has been a resident of Des Moines county for more than 50 years. Before moving to this community he had lived near Prairie Grove for twenty-six years.
He was married to Whilamine Winzel on January 27, 1871. To this union were born twelve children, namely; Henry of Danville, Iowa, William of Morning Sun, Iowa, Fred of Wahkon, Minnesota, Edward and Ferdinand of New London, Iowa, Mrs. H. A. Breneke of Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. Henry Hillen of Monmouth, Illinois, Mrs, Ray Redfern of Yarmouth, Iowa, Mrs. Bert Fischer of Mt. Union, Iowa, Mrs. W. A. Moffatt of Peoria, Illinois, and Miss Louise at home. One son, Louis, also his wife, preceded him in death.
Besides his children he leaves one brother, Louis Broeker, of Peoria, Illinois. and thirty-three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, May 3, at the Baptist church of Mt. Union Iowa, of which he had been a member for many years. Burial will be at Trinity cemetery.
