Peter was born the son of Peter & Mary, in what was then Berkeley Co, VA, now called Jefferson Co, WV. He married there in 1790 to Hannah Sewell, the dau of David & Mary E (Tullis) Sewell. He was a descendant of the Burr lineage which began with Jehue Burre who arrived from England in the Massachusetts Bay Colony with Winthrops fleet of 1630. Jehue eventually settled in Fairfield, CT, beginning what is now known as the 'Fairfield Branch of Burrs'.
Peter, along with his wife and their young family, ventured into what was then known as the Northwest Territory in 1798/99 in a group which included his Sewell in-laws, their sons, their families, and possibly other relatives such as the Cowans. They made one of the first 3 settlements in what is now Clinton Co.
Peter was a surveyor, Justice of the Peace in Warren Co, a member of the House of Representatives in the 4th & 5th sessions of the General Assembly for Warren Co in 1805 & 1806. He was named Associate Judge in 1810 when Clinton Co was formed, Clerk of Courts of Common Pleas, Clerk of Supreme Court in 1814.
Peter also served during the War of 1812 as a Private in Capt Wm B Fordyce's Company, 4 Sept 1812-15 Mar 1814. His career was cut short when he died Aug 8, 1816. He left no will and his estate was in litigation for many years.

3- Abigail, b 28 Dec 1808, married 1831 to Wm Carson.
