Sarah Burr was born 27 Aug 1799 in what was then the Northwest Territory, dau of Peter & Hannah (Sewell) Burr who came to the area in 1798/99. She married 8 Oct 1818 to James Marshall and they had 5 known children, viz- Mary Ann (wife of Jonathan Lawrence), Hannah, Sarah Ellen, Miriam & Delilah.
