Lois Alma Sharp Etheredge, (Born; Alma Loyce Sharp) was born in the now ghost town of "Mayer", eighteen miles southeast of Eldorado, in southeastern Schleicher County, Texas on March 31, 1912 to Hiram Edward II and, Alice Gertrude "Allie" (Conner) Sharp. At it's peak in 1914, Mayer had a Post Office, one General Store and a population of 190. Hiram & Allie Sharp with their six children owned and operated the General Store. At 19 years of age Lois married Jack Etheredge in Eldorado, Texas on Christmas Day, 1931. Together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage before Jack passed away in 1988. Jack and Lois spent their lives in Eldorado, Texas. Lois worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years. Lois Etheredge passed away Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 91 years of age.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram & Allie Sharp. Her husband Jack Etheredge. Her three brothers, Quinn Milton, Hiram Edwin Jr (her twin) & Alfred Vernon. Her two sisters, Allie Velma & Ella Mae. And her grandson, Billy Greg Etheredge. Lois is survived by her son, Billy Jack Etheredge and his wife Burnell. A granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
