Sadie Shields was born April 13, 1863. Her parents were John B. and Sarah (McCumber) Shields. She came from Wisconsin to Newton, Iowa when she was a small child. She lived in Newton until a young lady, then moved to Cass County, Iowa.
She married Joseph Erickson on June 15, 1882. To this union four daughters were born: Sylvia (Portwood), Pearl (Bek), Cora (McLaren) and Blanche (Denham).
Sadie died in March of 1939.
