Private John B. Shields, age 26, company H, 85th Il. Inf., married, farmer, born in Harrison county, Indiana, removed to Illinois, and enlisted from Lewistown. He served with his company until near the close of the war, but was absent, sick, at the muster out of the regiment. He was honorably discharged from the hospital at Chicago, Il., and is supposed to be living at Massena, Cass county, Iowa.
