Dovie M. Reed, a resident of Cortez, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at her home. She was 81.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 1, in Mancos at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Melvin Horrocks officiated. Interment followed in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mancos.

Dovie M. Reed is survived by her daughters: Lorraine Garlinghouse and husband, Bob, of Bloomfield, N.M.; Amanda Bennick and husband, Skip, of Cortez; Marlene Carneyhan and husband, Bill, of Cerulean, Ky.; Darlene Reed of Bloomfield; Brenda Reed of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; sons: Billy Reed and wife, Charlene, of Marana, Ariz., and Roger Reed and wife, Linda, of Cortez; sisters: Sarah Roarie of Hamilton, Ohio; Armeta McQueen of Laurel, Ind.; Betty Bentley of Toledo, Ohio; brother, Richard Bowles of Oxsford, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren, and many loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ethel Bowles; her loving husband of 59 years, Claude Reed; a son, Tom Reed; sisters: Jewel Crowdy and Viola Rumley; brothers: Allen Bowles, Sam Bowles, Cecil Bowles and Merle Bowles; a granddaughter, Jamie Lee Carneyhan; and a grandson, Robert Garlinghouse.

Cortez Four Corners Funeral Chapel, Hale & Gerken is serving the family.
