Jacob Barron Ervin, 83, was a son of the late Samuel Fulton and Jane Barron Ervin. He is survived by his wife Susann Finklea Ervin, his son Jacob Barron Ervin Jr. (Jennifer), a daughter Annie Ervin Ham (Jay) and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a twin brother Samuel Fulton Ervin of Florence, a brother William C. Ervin of Darlington and a sister Martha Adams Ervin of Florence. He was pre-deceased by siblings Elizabeth Ervin Clarkson, Janet Barron Ervin and James Rion Ervin.

A graduate of McClenaghan High School, Mr. Ervin also received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and was a partner in Ervin Engineering of Florence. Prior to this he served in the U.S. Army as part of the army of occupation of Japan.
He was a former deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Florence. A talented local artist, he enjoyed painting throughout his lifetime.
