Jean Forrest was my grandmother. She was one of eleven children born to Mary Lavina Linn Sigler and John Henry Sigler.

Ida Regina went to work at age thirteen as a lady's companion. At fifteen, she misrepresented her age to marry the dashing young John Forrest, my grandfather. They were married for 66 years and had two children.

Maurice outlived his brothers and sisters, passing the day after his sister Thelma's burial.

Several of the obituaries of the siblings give their mother's name as "Mary Lucinda Sigler," My mother, Mary's granddaughter, says it was "Lavina."

Mary Lavina Sigler was born a "Linn." It was in later years the spelling was changed to "Lynn." If my grandmother, Ida Regina, knew why the spelling was changed, she never said.
