George R. Baker, of Munroe, died at his home Sunday morning at one o'clock, of complications, after an illness of three months, at the age of 78.
Mr. Baker was born in East Berlin, PA, the son of the late Jacob M. & Mary A(Mummert) Baker. He was a member of the Manor Church of the Brethren, of which he had been a deacon for the past thirty years. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary R. (Palmer) Baker; six daughters, Mrs. William Rohrer, Miss Thelma Baker, Mrs. David Jamison, & Mrs. Harry Jamison, all of Downsville: Mrs. Paul Culler, of Sharpsburg, & Mrs. Walter Menlzer, of Parklon; four sons, Raymond L. Baker, of Tilghmanton, Guy L. & Joshua J. Baker, both of Johnstown, PA & G. William Baker, of Boonsboro; a stepdaughter, Mrs. John T. Gossard, of Downsville; a sister, Miss M. Kathryn Baker, of Hagerstown; 33 grandchildren, & 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Manor Church of the Brethren, with Rev. J. Rowland Reichard officiating, assisted by Rev. Charles Green & Rev. Freeman Ankrum. Interment will be in the Manor Cemetery.
The body may be viewed at the home of the deceased from Tuesday morning until Wednesday noon, and at the church from one o'clock Wednesday until the time of the services. The Bast Funeral Home of Boonsboro, is in charge of arrangements.
