Wallace A Hays, 68, Former Deputy, Dies

Wallace A. Hays, 68 of Three Degree Road, died yesterday in Butler County Memorial Hospital, after an illness.

Mr. Hays was a special deputy for the Butler County Sheriff's Office, and a former member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Born in Butler, Feb. 11, 1910, he was the son of the late Wallace K. and Mabel E. Stepp Hays.

He was retired from the Maintenance Deaprtment of Armco Steel Corporation, Butler, after 38 years service.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the CB Rangers, Knights of Columbus Council 866, Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, and Armco Veterans Club.

Surviving are his wife, Irene A. Suchonic Hays, whom he married 48 years ago this September; a son, Wallace J. Hays of Butler; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Peg) Brennen and Mrs. Harry (Judy) Wright, both of Butler; a brother, Carl "Jeff" Hays of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Greene of Butler, and Mrs. Wilbur (Velma) Shever of Orlando, Fla,; 11 grandchildren, a great-grandson, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends of Wallace A. Hays, who died Thursday, July 27, 1978, will be received Saturday and Sunday. Funeral services will be held Monday with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
