Mrs. Mabel E. Hays, 87, formerly of North McKean Sreet, died at 7:45 p.m. yesterday in Sunnyview Home.

Born in Sheffield, PA., June 16, 1884, she was the daughter of Howard and Sarah Shook Stepp.

Her husband, Wallace Kennedy Hays, died in 1956.

She was a member of Saint Andrews United Prebyterian Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Anna Greene of Mt. chestnut, Mrs. Leo (Edna) O'Neil of Butler, and Mrs. Wilbur (Velma)Shever of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Wallace A. Hays of Butler and Carl "Jeff" Hays of Mt. Chestnut; 14 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William Saunders and Mrs. Edward Nauman, both of Butler, a brother Russell Stepp of Cabot; and a number of nieces and newphews.

Friends of Mrs. Mabel E. Hays of Sunnyview Home, formerly of North McKean Street, who died Monday, Dec. 13, 1971, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Tuesday and Wedesday Funeral services will be held Thursday from the funeral home. Burial will be in Summit United Presbyterian Cemetery.
