Margaret was the fifth child of David and Mary Beck Evans. She was born January 3, 1835, at Richland County, Ohio. There were four other children in the family, two boys and two girls: Israel, Henry, Eliza Jane and Mary Ann.

Margaret must have been a special child to have been called to leave her loving family when but a small child. During these two years of her life, her family with Zion's Camp left Ohio and went into Missouri, having become members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 6, 1833,
and were very dedicated to its cause.

Death came to her August 27, 1836, at Caldwell County, Missouri where she was buried. In December of 1838 when the Saints were compelled to flee from the State of Missouri, one can imagine how hard it must have been for her family to leave that little grave knowing they would never see it again. Her family was not prepared for this trial, but the Lord blessed them with courage as they moved on with the memory of Margaret in their hearts.
