I was born December 11, 1869. at Lehi, Utah, the daughter of Bishop David and Rebecca Coleman Evans.

My early life was spent helping in the fields gathering ground cherries and washing wool for my mother to spin, color and weave into cloth; also in herding the chickens in the fields during the time grasshoppers were destroying the crops.

I was baptized June 9, 1878, in the Mill Pond southeast of Lehi. My early schooling was in the homes of some of the pioneer mothers where we churned, cleaned dooryards, and did other odd jobs during recess and between classes.

My father passed away when I was thirteen years of age. My early schooling ended a short time later as we girls had to work to help earn our clothes.

I was married to Isaac James Taylor in Logan Temple on December 14, 1887, but our married days were short as my husband was stricken sick and passed to the world beyond on the 17th day of May 1891. After this, I worked for a short time before being called to the B.Y.U. at Provo to take a training course in Sunday School Teaching where I stayed to prepare for my county examination August 1894 and began teaching in the old school house west of the church in Lehi, Utah. I taught for seven years.

On June 18, 1901, I was married to John Roberts of Lehi, Utah in the Logan Temple from which union three sons were born: Isaac Ford, Morris Coleman, and Ralph Standish.

From 1901 until 1914, I was secretary and treasurer of the Alpine Stake Relief Society and then served as counselor until 1924. I also served as counselor in the Alpine stake Mutual during the years 1899 to 1912 and was Stake Chairman Genealogical Division of the Stake Relief Society from 1913 until 1924.

August 1929, I was chosen secretary and treasurer of the newly formed Lehi post of the Indian War Veterans and Pioneers of Utah in which I have worked since.

Served as Genealogist of the Bishop David Evans Family Association for many years. During this time gathered records from Cecil County, Maryland, and Pennsylvania during a stay in that area, Many Evans names I recorded and submitted for temple ordinance work. Much of this information I obtained at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. in 1920.

Emma Jane Evans Taylor Roberts suffered a stroke and died February 28. 1942.

The Bishop David Evans Family Association is most grateful for her efforts as it is through her records regarding Israel and Abigail Alexander Evans and family locating in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, that has led to locating the Alexander line in February of 1969 which carries Abigail's ancestors back to approximately 1625 and in to Ireland.
