The funeral of Claude W. Westerman, 87, of Onaway, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 9, at the Gatzke Funeral Home in Rogers City. Rev. Frederick T. Steen of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiated and interment was in Rogers City Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Westerman, who was born in Yorktown, New York, on November 5, 1882 passed away Thursday, February 5, in Belleville.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ella Jarvis, whom he married in Ocqueoc Township on March 8, 1916; five sons, Howard of Inglewood, California, Dale of Sebastopol, California and Jay of Santa Rosa, California, Roy of Ypsilanti and Ira of Romulus; six daughters, Mrs. Steve (Lorene) Vekaryasz of Rogers City, Mrs Waldermar (Clara) Walters of Tampa, Florida, Mrs George (Evelyn) Haste of Romulus, Mrs. Henry (Betty) Freiburger of Union Lake, Mrs. John (Joy) Howells of Pontiac and Mrs. George (Iris) Grace of Belleville; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Ritzler of Bucyrus, Ohio and Maude Westerman of Tonowanda, New York and one brother, Harry of Nevada, Ohio.
Mr. Westerman also leaves 37 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
