Clara Shafer Westerman, was born at Bowling Green, Ohio, Jan. 10, 1861 and departed this life Feb. 4, 1933. She was the daughter of Abraham and Margaret Shafer. She was married to George Westerman in Jan. 1879, to which union was born nine children, one preceding them in death, having died in infancy. They are survived by the following eight children: Miss Maude Westerman of Tonawanda, New York; Claude and Ray Westerman of Rogers City, Michigan; Doris, wife of Ray DeBolt and Joseph Westerman, both of Columbus; Harry Westerman and Myrtle, wife of Ed Ritzler, of east of Upper Sandusky and George Westerman of Cleveland. They are also survived by 39 grandchildren.
Mrs. Westerman leaves 3 brothers, George Shafter of Sycamore; Clayton and Clinton Shafer of Upper Sandusky. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene at Columbus where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon. Burial was made in Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were three brothers, George, Clayton and Clinton Shafer, a nephew, Gordon Shafer of this city, and Mr. Evans and Mr. Moore of Columbus.
Attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gottfried, Mr. and Mrs Clayton Shafter, George and Clinton Shafer, Gordon Shafer, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Westerman and Family, Mr. Ed Ritzler and family and Fred Lowmaster of this vicinity.
