Statesboro - Aletha Sparks Bowen, 82, died Sept. 25 at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.

The lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was the widow of James M. Bowen, her husband of 63 years.

Survivors: four sons and daughters-in-law, J.M. and Quillene Bowen and Joe and Nancy Bowen, all of Garfield, John and Brenda Bowen of Birmingham, Ala., and Sam and Jennifer Bowen of Metter; a daughter and son-in-law, Luree and Ray Dutton of Buford; three brothers, Ralph Sparks of Pembroke, Manfred Sparks of Savannah, and James Sparks of Athens, Tenn.; three sisters, Cleo Olson and Bonnie Moore of Savannah, and Lillian Mead of Yulee, Fla.; 10 grsandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6-9 p.m. today at Hodges-Turner Anderson Funeral Home.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, burial in church cemetery.
