Charles obtained a job in a boot factory in Lancaster, Pennsylvania owned by Christian Baker and later married his boss's daughter Elizabeth. He died at home south of Atchison, KS. All the Bakers wagon trained to Kansas crossing the Missouri River at Doniphan, KS. Before they left Lancaster, Pa. he obtained his Naturalization Certificate dated in 1860.

Obituary: "Charles Fleiner, an old settler, died at his home two miles south of town, at nine o'clock this morning of Bright's disease. He was 67 years old and was born in Germany in 1836. He is survived by his wife and seven children, all of whom live in Atchison county, except B.F. Fleiner, whose home is in Utah, and who will arrive this evening. The funeral will occur tomorrow at 2 P.M. from the home. " (Src: Atchison Globe newspaper dated, September 3, 1903).
