Gladys Marie (Baer) Stacker, 84, of Lafayette, Ind., died Sept. 23, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. She lived in Lafayette for 66 years.
Gladys was born Jan. 10, 1918, in Montgomery County, Ind. She graduated from Bowers High School in 1936 and attended Lafayette Business College. She married Eugene E. Stacker on Sept. 21, 1947, in Lafayette. He died on Nov. 4, 2001.
Mrs. Stacker worked previously as a bookkeeper for Wells Yeager Best for several years and had recently worked for 15 years for Loebs Department Store. She was a member of First Christian Church, an Hope Chapter No. 5 Order of Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron in 1986 and in the year 1993. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Home Hospital for 10 years. Her hobbies were sewing, embroidering and cooking.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Baer.
Surviving is a son, Edgar Eugene (Susan Ann) of Stevensville; four sisters -- Thelma J. (Bill) Dickson, Margaret Ann Brown and Vera R. Leach, all of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Wilma I. (Dean) Wiggins of West Lafayette; a brother, H. Leo Baer of Lebanon, Ind.; and four grandchildren -- Ryan Michael, Megan Elizabeth, Justin Brent and Ashley Rae Stacker.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 North 9th St., Lafayette, Ind. Pastor Greg Eberhard will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with an Order of Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to The Estral Fund with Hope Chapter No. 5, O.E.S. Lodge or The First Christian Church.
