Edith was born on October 23, 1923 in Kinta, Oklahoma to George William & Sarah Alice Gray Short. She attended schools in the Kinta area. Edith was married to William "Buster" Pike on June 12, 1939 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was a housewife all of her life and she was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by 3 daughters and a son-in-law, Faye Voelker of McAlester, Oklahoma, Adele Pike of McAlester, Oklahoma, Sarah Blunt and husband, Kenny of McAlester, Oklahoma; grandchildren, David, Wade, Loretta, Sherran, Karen, Marie, Michelle, Patricia, Patrick, Lynn, Charlie, Amanda, Melinda and Jeremy; 32 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and newphews and a special niece, Cybil Jane Joslin of Clayton, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 daugthers, Mary Iona Crabtree and Alice Laverne McVay; a great-granddaughter, Lisa Renee' Simmons; 10 brothers and sisters, Elmer Short, Almer Short, Rosie White, David Short, Maudie Snow, Alice Blevins, Frank Short, Pauline Berry, Charlie Short, Stella Duckworth; and 3 half-sisters, Edder Short, Laurie Short and May Short. Active Pallbearers will be Christopher Wells, Jeremy Pierce, Mike Wagoner, Tony Wells, Charlie Thomason and David McVay. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wade McVay, Michael Williamson, Jarred Weeden, Lynn Thomason, Earl Simmons, Randy Bristow and Terry Stanford. Services will be 1 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. James Crowson officiating. Burial will be at Dorsey Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
