Alice Laverne McVay, 68, of Haileyville, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at her home in Haileyville. Born Aug. 19, 1940, in McAlester, to William Elbert and Edith Lucy (Short) Pike, she enjoyed camping and fishing and was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include two sons, William David McVay, of Haileyville, Wade Eugene McVay, of Haileyville; grandchildren, Alisha and David Williamson, Jason McVay, Chad and Cassie Lightle; nine great-grandchildren; mother, Edith Lucy Pike, of Haileyville, and three sisters, Fay Loretta Voelker, of Haileyville, Adele Louise Stamps, of Krebs, Sarah Jean Munoz, of McAlester. She was preceded in death by her father, William Elbert Pike and one sister, Iona Thomason. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dorsey Cemetery on the north side of Lake McAlester with Pastor Kenneth Clay officiating. Burial will be at Dorsey Cemetery under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
