Rosie was born on Oct. 8, 1923, the daughter of the late Sam and Stella Hale.
She married Elvin Brown on Nov. 8, 1941.
Rosie was a devoted mother and proud grandmother. She lived all of her life in and around West Fork and was a well-loved babysitter for many families in the area. She loved having the kids around, and most of them called her Grandma.
She enjoyed traveling and made many trips to see her daughters, one on the west coast and one on the east coast. She was an avid reader and enjoyed all kinds of books; she especially liked Grace Livingston Hill and Louis L'Amour.
Her only regret in life was that she never had the chance to visit Belgium and see where her husband was buried after he was killed in WWII. She will be greatly missed by all of her family. She was truly a blessing to all of us.
She is preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Marilyn Hutchinson, three brothers, Roy Hale, Harry Hale, and Herman Hale.
She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Swartz of LaVerne, Calif., Carolyn Grimes and her husband, Robert, of Falling Waters, W.V., and Ruth Edwards and her husband, John, of Springdale; sister, Bonnie Martin of West Fork; two brothers, Jim Hale of West Fork and Walt Hale of Auburn, Kan.; 13 grandchildren, Debbie Smeltzer who took very good care of her for the last six years of her life, of Phelan, Calif., Carson Swartz, Laurie Mercado, Sam Swartz, Justin Ramey, Danita Hadley, Brad Booth, Steven Booth, Tracy Holyfield, Monica Whittle, Melissa Hunter, Melinda Roberts, and Michelle Roberts; 32 great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at the funeral home, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Gene Felcher officiating.
A private interment will be held at Mineral Springs Cemetery in West Fork under the direction of Beard's Funeral Chapel.
