Jim joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a drill sergeant and retired from the Army after 22 years. In 1973, he moved to West Fork from Fort Knox, Kentucky. Jim worked for the city of Fayetteville and retired from there twice. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hale; parents, Samuel and Estele Hale; and grandson, James Garrett Campbell.
Jim is survived by his children, Brent Watson and wife Ginny of Oklahoma, Annette Kyles and husband Brooke of Rogers, Arkansas, Margaret Kyles and husband Kevin of West Fork, and Carol Keen and wife Jessica of West Fork; bonus daughters, Michelle Keen of Westville, Oklahoma, and Laura Blossom of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Joe Campbel and wife Laura, Gabrielle Christophersen and husband Glen, Daniel James Watson, Paul John Watson, Christina Watson, Jason Kyles, Kevin Kyles and wife Andrea, Matthew Kyles and wife Shawna, Robert Kyles, and Nikalia, Lee; great grandchildren, Meica Lee, Quentin Kern, Olivia Kyles, Layla Kyles, Aniyah Kyles, Juliana Kyles, Elijah Keen, Dorien Kyles, Gavin Kyles, and Calvin Kyles; and great great grandchild, Magnolia Lee.
