William Crouse was born in North Carolina in October, 1825, and came to Indiana with his father in 1834. Mr. Crouse was married three times, his first wife being Daisy Kendall, and to them was born one child. His second marriage was Hannah Lenhart, and to them was born one son, Calvin Crouse, who resided in Cumberland Co., Ill. His third wife was Anna Haltom, and to them was born two children. Mr. Crouse had two grandchildren. He died in Helena, Arkansas, October 16, 1862.
William served in Company A of the 43rd Indiana Volunteers. At times the name was misspelled Crows on military rolls.
The following ancestry.com material from U.S., Burial Registers, Military Posts and National Cemeteries indicates William was originally interred in Helena, Ark but his remains were moved to the National Cemetery in Memphis about a year later. This record has death year as 1863, although 1862 could be correct.

His grave marker is 2932 in the Memphis Cemetery. I will attempt to add a picture of it. William was a veteran of War with Mexico serving in Company C of the 2nd Indiana. Later he and two of his brothers served in Company A of the 43rd Indiana during the Civil War.
