Dortha was raised in the McPherson area of Montgomery County. She graduated from Emerson High School. She was united in marriage to Archie J. Lindsey on August 11, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska, To this union two children were born Joe and Virginia. They farmed in Montgomery County until l963 when they moved into Red Oak. She enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, sewing and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Archie on December 13, 1982, a daughter Virginia, a great-granddaughter, Shelia Brown and 5 sisters.
Dortha is survived by a son; Joe Lindsey and his wife Vera of Red Oak, Iowa; two granddaughters, Judy Cooper and her husband Jerry of Tingley, Iowa and Jackie Lindsey of Red Oak, Iowa; two great-grandchildren; Jeff Cooper of Grand Junction, Iowa and Julie Hettner and her husband of Tingley, Iowa, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
