Bily Laing, who recently enlisted in the Navy and has been taking his book camp training at San Diego, California, spent several days at home last week with his mother, Mrs. Lottie Laing. Billy's two older brothers, J. C. and Charles "Chink" Laing, served in the Navy during the war and he says he's liking it fine already.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Billy B. Laing, age 82, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Mer Rouge Cemetery with Rev. Britt Dupree officiating under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.

Mr. Laing, a resident of Bastrop and retired from International Paper Company and The Bastrop Enterprise, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Morehouse General Hospital. Mr. Laing was a United States Navy Veteran. Mr. Laing is preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Laing Johnston.

Mr. Laing is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae Willis Laing; two sons, Michael Laing and wife Jeanine of Bastrop, LA, Jimmy Laing of Bastrop, LA; two brothers, Jeff Laing of Portage, MI, Harvey Laing and wife Valarie of Shreveport, LA; four grandchildren, Angela Johnston, Chris Laing, Tyler Cheek, Danielle Kindrix; a niece, Linda Oldham and husband Marley; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Glen Matte.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Mitcham, Michael John Courson, Marley Oldham, Marq Mitcham, Glen Matte, and Joe Perkins.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday at Golden Funeral Home.
