Mr. W. Harvey Laing, 95, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015, at his residence after a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church Couch Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, with a visitation following in the chapel parlor. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Rhoads of First United Methodist Church. Private family graveside will be held at Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Laing was a native of Mer Rouge, LA and a resident of Shreveport, LA since 1958. Mr. Laing was a school teacher, coach and newspaper correspondent for many years. After moving to Shreveport, Mr. Laing worked for AAA for 30 years and then went to work for Querbes and Nelson. He was a life time member of the Administrator Board at First United Methodist church where he was a member.

Mr. Laing was preceded in death by his daughter, Dr. Carol Laing Ritter and an infant son, his parents and six brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Valery Valentine Laing; granddaughter, Marcella Ritter Fink; grandson, Jared Scott Ritter; one great-grandson, Daniel Fink; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Pruett, Malcom Parker, Tom Pace, Scott Ritter, Stephen Fink, and Dennis Ritter.
