R. D. Lang Rites to Be Held Today

Funeral services for retired café owner Robert D. Laing, 73, of 4156 Southern Ave., will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Ledbetter, pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be R. F. Britt, Terrell Whetstone, Joe Anders, William A. Collins, William Adkins and J. C. Lacobee.

Mr. Laing died at 5:30 a.m. Friday in a local sanitarium after a long illness.

A native of Bastrop, he had been a Shreveport resident for 46 years. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Linwood Baptist Church.

Mr. Laing had been retired for the past eight years and had been associated with Monsour's for about 25 years prior to opening his own restaurant, Laing's Café, at 728 Louisiana Ave.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Lacobee, Shreveport; a son, William H. Laing, St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Miss Cassie Laing and Mrs. Myrtle Maxwell, both of Shreveport; a number of half-brothers and half-sisters, several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
