Luther Kimbrel was the son of Millie Milbray Annice (Cook) Kimbrel and Jeremiah K. (Dink) Kimbrel.

Luther Kimbrel had two sisters and eleven brother:

Allie (Tool) Kimbrel and Luther Kimbrel had two children:

BIOGRAPHY
Luther Kimbrel was Millie Milbria Annice (Cook) Kimbrel and Jeremiah K. (Dink) Kimbrel’s sixth child and third living child. Luther Kimbrel was born in Miller County, Georgia on March 10, 1886. Stephen Grover Cleveland was our 22nd. President at that time. Allie (Toole) Kimbrel, was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1890. Luther Kimbrel and Allie Tool both lived in Miller County Georgia their whole lives. Allie Toole was the daughter of Joe Willis Toole and she was a petite young lady who wore her hair long and in a knot on the back of her head. She lived with her father and his second wife in the city of Colquitt and she finished school in Colquitt and was then sent to Tifton Georgia to complete college and earn a degree that would have allowed her to become a teacher. However, during her stay at the Tifton collage she met and married Luther Kimbrel on November 14, 1909 and became a housewife. Allie and Luther lived in the house that was on the land that Luther’s father Jeremiah Dink Kimbrel had given to him to farm. The house that he was given faced Georgia State Highway 91 in Miller County.
Luther Kimbrel was a lot different than his wife Allie. Luther was outgoing and mixed with people really well. If he had been placed in a group of millionaires, he would have fit right in. He enjoyed playing the part with his people, and with his loving and humorous disposition he could have gone far. Allie and Luther had two children, a boy that they named Harry Kimbrel was born on January 1, 1912, and a second boy they named Billy Kimbrel was born on May 26, 1915. Harry Kimbrel lived a good life he married twice and had six children and died on May 11, 1965. Billy Kimbrel lived only one year and one month and died on June 25, 1916. Allie only knew her first grandchild, Harry’s oldest daughter Maxine Kimbrel by Harry’s first wife Irma (Haire) Kimbrel, but Luther lived to know three other grandchildren, Mary Alice Kimbrel, Dink Kimbrel, and Joe Kimbrel by Harry’s second wife, Mary Emma (Trammel) Kimbrel. Luther worked for a short time in Colquitt Georgia at a furniture store, but the rest of his life was spent in farm related work, such as row crops and cattle. Allie and Luther were both good people that had a good family life. Allie’s brother James T. Toole died on April 4, 1940 and his wife Louise (Stewart) Toole and their four children lived with Allie and Luther for several months until they could manage on their own. Later Luther sold the farm that his father gave to him and Luther and Allie moved into a house on a farm that was owned by Babcock Company and rented the farmland that the house was on which was located on Counce Road. Aunt Allie and Uncle Luther lived on the Babcock farm until Luther’s sister Gertrude finally moved out of the house that she owned on Chapman Road in Miller County Georgia and moved into a house in Colquitt City after the “Making Mattresses Program” ended in 1942. Then Allie and Luther moved into the house normally referred to as Gertrude’s country home and were living there when Allie (Toole) Kimbrel died on July 25, 1945, she was only 54 years old and would have been 55 on Christmas day of that year.
After Allie had died, Luther and Harry would go over to his brother John’s house most every night to eat supper. John’s wife Lucy had died on November 17, 1944 but her two daughters Laverne now 19 years old and Elvie now 17 years old were there and would do the cooking for all of them. Later Luther met Rosa Widner and Luther and Rosa were married on April 5, 1952. Luther was now 66 years old and Rosa was 55 years old, they were still living in Gertrude’s country home when Luther died on October 28, 1955, Luther was 69 years old. Shortly after Luther’s death Rosa moved to Blakley Georgia. Rosa died on November 8, 1991 and was 89 years old.
