Orlando Fresquez, 84, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 after a prolonged illness. Orlando was born August 15, 1924 the son of Porfirio and Maria Fresquez in Picacho, New Mexico. He was the second child of eleven siblings. He joined the United States Air Force at the beginning of World War II, where he served in China with the Flying Tigers. When the war was over he returned home to finish high school in Hondo, NM. He attended NMSU in Las Cruces. Later he moved to San Diego, CA where he worked for Ryan Aviation. He loved to play golf and spent summers horseback riding at his family's ranch in Picacho, NM. Orlando was very involved in his Church and belonged to the Holy Rosary Society. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Orfila Ramirez; and brother, Eleverto Fresquez. Orlando is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margaret Fresquez; daughter, Vivian Frances of New York; sisters, Lucille Laws and husband George of Murrieta, CA, Prestina Sanchez Davis and husband Smoky of Albuquerque, Effie Fresquez Chavez of Albuquerque, Gloria Mendola and husband Peter of Roswell, NM, and Linda Yrisarri of Anaheim, CA; brothers, Alvino Fresquez of Albuquerque, Chris Fresquez and wife Marilyn of Belen, NM, and Anthony Fresquez and friend Gerri Candelaria of Rio Rancho; four step children; and many nieces and nephews. The Rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 8:00 AM followed by the Celebration of the Mass at 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 1800 Martha St. NE, Albuquerque
